Temple Institute for Learning & Education Sciences

TILES is a cross-college collaborative effort supporting an interdisciplinary research community in the science of learning, where (a) featured speakers present colloquia on relevant topics throughout the semester, (b) members present work in progress at lab meetings and discuss future directions, and (c) members pursue funding that involves cross-college collaboration.

The Motivated Change Research Lab

The mission of the Motivated Change Research Lab (MCRL) is understanding the cognitive, motivational, and emotional processes that lead to attitude change, conceptual change, and successful learning, particularly in STEM.

The Disciplined Reading and Learning Research Laboratory

The Disciplined Reading and Learning Research Lab (DRLRL) is dedicated to the study of psychology in teaching and learning. Under the guidance of Patricia A. Alexander, the lab supports the research programs of Dr. Alexander and her team of graduate students, including the study of reading, relational reasoning, multiple source use, language development, and prior knowledge activation. The DRLRL is also dedicated to the development of culture-fair assessments.

OU M.O.V.E Lab 

The mission of the OU MOVE Lab is to build a bridge between in and out of school learning. In particular we aim to implement cutting edge research and statistical methodologies to investigate cognitive and motivational factors involved with engagement in all contexts.

National Consortium for Instruction and Cognition (NCIC)

The mission of NCIC is mentoring current and future scholars, as well as conducting and disseminating educational research.


National Earth Science Teachers Association (NESTA)

Promoting Reasoning and Conceptual Change In Science (PRACCIS)

PRACCIS is a research and development project that is constructing innovative learning environments for model-based inquiry, understanding how students learn through inquiry, and identifying ways to redesign learning environment.
